Hey "scribetoo" (from that handle I take it you claim to be some kind of writer) stop bashing the drive from Chicago to Indy as boring. You obviously never drove I-55 or I-57 in your own state. As far as not finding a motel cause of the Brickyard 400, don't you check on what's going on in an area? As much as I like drum corp, I know Nascar draws many times the crowds and MONEY to an area.
Maybe you should try to find a motel between Milwaukee and Green Bay during EAA week.

We were at our friend Jimmy Wagner's motel.
There were many more NASCAR fans than drum corps fans.
Having driven the I-57, I-55 routes hundreds of times (Scribetoo has only lived here less than ten years), I can say it's equally as boring, if not more boring than I-65.
Jim and I came home. We like home but if we were going to stay in Indy, we would have made arrangements MONTHS ago. We're making plans for DCI 2008 while we're in California.
