I-65 vx I-55

Hey "scribetoo" (from that handle I take it you claim to be some kind of writer) stop bashing the drive from Chicago to Indy as boring. You obviously never drove I-55 or I-57 in your own state. As far as not finding a motel cause of the Brickyard 400, don't you check on what's going on in an area? As much as I like drum corp, I know Nascar draws many times the crowds and MONEY to an area.
Maybe you should try to find a motel between Milwaukee and Green Bay during EAA week.

I love a parade

Spent the day at Milwaukee's Germanfest yesterday. Always good for people watching. They had a parade through the grounds with several local bands and assorted people in costume. Now I have been in and seen a lot of parades in my time but yesterday I saw a first. A marching violin group playing "The Marine Corp Hymn".
As alway the food was great and the beer cold.
LOML thought the highlight was the weiner dog costume competition and races.

I wish

I was born about thirty years too late. Last night I watched the "Benny Goodman Story" again. I just love the music of that era. Guys like Gene Krupa on drums, Harry James and Ziggi Elmond on trumpet, Lionel Hampton on Vipes and of course Benny on Clarinet. It just doesn't get any better than that. You can keep your electric guitars, keyboards and 27,000 watt amplifiers blaring "rock".

In your face!

Today I start the 41st year of my marriage. SO--- Up YOURS to all the parents, teachers, councelors and "religious" people who told us we were being stupid and it would never work. By the way, that baby that you said we should at best give up for adoption and worst just "get rid of" is a doctor and biomedical engineer and well on her way to becoming one of the preeminent spinal surgeons in the land.

Got to check a map.

Since when is Wilmot Wi the home show for the Racine Scouts?
Glad to see Racine can still support it's oldest drum corp in it's 80th anniversary year.
Guess SC Johnson didn't think it was important.

Really

Don't need to read the obit section of the newspaper anymore. Just go to DCP. Another one bit the dust in the DCA section.

Ya Know

Some how I think the world will go on without Harry Potter.

Let me make this clear.

To some people in particular (you know who you are) and everyone in general.

I and I alone decide what my opinions are concerning drum corps and the people involved.
I will be the one who decides where and what I will post.
I will decide who my friends are.
So, if the only time you fee that I am worthy of your attention is to bitch about my opinions, KISS MY ASS!

Kismet?

This past weekend found myself and LOML traveling the northeast part of Wisconsin. The stretch of state highway 42 between Manitowoc and Two Rivers has to be one of the prettiest Lake Michigan shore routes anywhere. Saturday we ended up in the tiny town of Norman on highway G south of Kewanee. For anyone who likes the B&B scene, this little place, the Norman General Store & Bed and Breakfast is a must. We made some new friends and possibly some future bookings for "First Impressions"

Is this the face of a pompous ass?

This guy drops more names than a rabbit drops turds. He writes about as well as they smell. Try this quote - this is really what drum corps is about?
"No sex in drum corps?
Another drum corps suggestion: No sex during Thanksgiving. That way folks like CorpsVets Exec. Dir. Dave Stollberg won't be delayed making the DCA Championships like last year while wife Tammi stays in the hospital. (Tammi is back in CorpsVets' guard for aught seven.)...or Willet won't have to miss like he did during the '06 DCA Championships."
If he drove a Jetta we could call him Jeffy2.

castguy in labor

I now know what it feels like to have a baby. After writhing on the bathroom floor for an hout in a cold sweat I went to the ER yesterday and was informed I was passing a kidney stone. They did some tests and said I had a 60-70% chance of passing it on my own so they doped me up and sent me home. We shall see if a 4mm stone makes it's way through a 1mm ureter.
Nice fourth!

Drum Corp free weekend

Not one thought of drum corp this past weekend. Just gardening, bike riding and a car show including my second Lions Club chicken barbarque of the summer. Yum.
