Pioneer ?

Saw on DCP that Pioneer is having recruiting problems. That is too bad but maybe they should not set their sight so high. Pioneer is a Div 2 caliber corp, always has been, always will. This goes way back to the days when they were two seperate corps. St Pat's Imperials and Mercury Thunderbolts, in to the merger years as The Thing and to the present Pioneer. They just never had the public personna of a top level corps. Impressions are everything.

On the issues of drum corps, I am waiting to see.

Troopers
Madison
Phantom

Could give a shit about

Cadets
Kilties
most of DCA

This should freak you out.

I saw "The Thing" in '73 at the Cedarburg show. I was in Norwood. Jim was in that show with the Junior Kilts that year.

It was so strange. "The Thing" was an appropriate name cuz those green St.Pat's uni's sure clashed with the red/white/blue Thunderbolts unis. I believe the hornline was in the Thunderbolts and the drumline was in the green jackets and kilts. Weird.

We are going to that show this year to see Andy. Neither one of us has been there in 34 years.

Jim doesn't remember seeing the Imperials. He said that is because we went on so early and the Junior Kilts were always on "under the lights".

Smartass.

I briefly dated a girl from Thunderbolts guard back in 67.

We always hated the Cedarburg show because
A: the field sucked
B: the parade was always very hot and uphill all the way.

The kids love that show now. They said the audience is so big and enthusiastic that they fill up both sides of the stadium. Like the old days.

Tickets go on sale May 1st.
