Remember

To paraphrase, yesterday, Dec 7, a day that should live forever in all our minds, a group of old, somewhat feeble veterans gathered for the 65th aniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was that generations 9-11. There may not be enough left alive or able to form a 70th aniversary and with that we risk letting that moment in time become just another page in a dusty history book.

Those men and women who fought, died and were maimed physically and emotionally were supported by millions on the homefront who worked long hours, delt with rationing, and constantly hoped that "telegram" would not come to their house.

That we were able to emerge victorious is a credit to this nations people and it's industry. Certainly the politians were more of a liability than an asset. We went into that conflict with a military that had been gutted by twenty years of budget cuts. Thankfully we had the industrial base to rebuilt quickly. I doubt if we could repeat that feat. This country, it's polititians and the bean counters running things have let our industrial base be decimated. And that doen not mean just in physical equipment and building but in skilled people. See what good that accountant or lawyer does you when you need a weapon to repell an invading army. But I digress.

Those men and women of WW2 era knew what character, honor and integity really meant. We should and we must give them the respect they have earned.
