I posted a reply on DCP concerning the 2007 (shall I say it?) Bozo staff.
For the record my post was "That bunch is right on a par with Norman, Sorny, Pavlik etc. NOT"
Inside of 10 minutes the post was deleted by the forum administration (Geoff).
Nide to know free speech is still the national norm.

Geez
Am I the only one who is amazed at all this santification of Gerald Ford? Doesn't anyone out there remember 21-22% inflation? How about the lame "WIP" (whip inflation now) campaign? The man was an ineffective president who never made a splash before being tapped to replace the disgraced Spiro Agnew.
He was a president.(unelected)
He was fairly honest.
He's dead.
End of story.

Too young
I just read another blog in which the writer talked about getting an e-mail from a 16 year old member of an East coast "all age" corps. What was said is not important. The writers age is. 16 is too yound to be thrust into the atmosphere of a DCA drum corps. He will be exposed to drinking, carousing and who knows what without proper supervision.
No "all age" corps should be allowed to recruit members that are not old enough to serve in the US military.
Period
End of discusion.

drum corps <> prowrestling
Browniebrick says on DCP "A DCI "All Age" Championship might not be too far off for the Non-Northeast DCA Drum Corps if the various proposals come to fruition !!!"
I say, just what we need, another meaningless title.
All age (just an excuse for old guys to hang with young girls)

I kid you not. Sure beats making a mess at home and cheaper than a groomer. Tried one last night.

Grow up
People complaining on DCP that drill instructors yell at them. For christ sake grow up you whinny pampered whimps. This is an outgrowth of years of their parents, teachers, coachs, etc, etc patting them on the back and saying "good job" every time the little wuss did anything remotely right.

Surprising service
After a recent horrific dinner at a fund raising event (topped off by an old lady at the table getting drunk and puking over everything) I sent an e-mail to the orginizers to complain. I'll be damned if they didn't call back offering appolgies and a refund.

Banal
My God, in a certain message board the topics of discussions range from what type of lip gloss to what kind of shoes one wears. Maybe some of them should be more concerned about what is covering their ass.

Remember
To paraphrase, yesterday, Dec 7, a day that should live forever in all our minds, a group of old, somewhat feeble veterans gathered for the 65th aniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was that generations 9-11. There may not be enough left alive or able to form a 70th aniversary and with that we risk letting that moment in time become just another page in a dusty history book.
Those men and women who fought, died and were maimed physically and emotionally were supported by millions on the homefront who worked long hours, delt with rationing, and constantly hoped that "telegram" would not come to their house.
That we were able to emerge victorious is a credit to this nations people and it's industry. Certainly the politians were more of a liability than an asset. We went into that conflict with a military that had been gutted by twenty years of budget cuts. Thankfully we had the industrial base to rebuilt quickly. I doubt if we could repeat that feat. This country, it's polititians and the bean counters running things have let our industrial base be decimated. And that doen not mean just in physical equipment and building but in skilled people. See what good that accountant or lawyer does you when you need a weapon to repell an invading army. But I digress.
Those men and women of WW2 era knew what character, honor and integity really meant. We should and we must give them the respect they have earned.

I don't see any lyrics from any Racine Scouts or Boy's of 76 songs. Guess the orginizations that got you into an activity just fall by the wayside. Maybe so kazoo lyrics then??????

Huge Explosion
Explosion this morning at Falk Corp on Milwaukee has demolished two large buildings. Felt miles away. News reports say a leaking 170,000 lb Propane tank blew. Traffic is a mess, multiple injuries. Great Christmas present for a lot of families.

Rifle - schmifle
"hi all!! i may have found the solution to your ulimate rifle dilema!!! someone posted on rec.arts. a post about this company from nj that was making rifles. i called and talked to the owner. he worked for george miller and sons for 10 years. the rifles are almost exactly the same, but a little different. i ordered one to see what it was like. i will let you know once i get it. he said there is no wait time to get these rifles. the price is $30.00 for a gun and $5.00 to add a leather strap. he also does the custom sizes. the web site ispremierrifles.com"
This is such crap! These yahoo's in todays drum corps & bands wouldn't know a real rifle if it fell on their heads. What you get for $30.00 is a hunk of 2x4 shaped with a router and painted white. It may have rubber caps on the ends. A rifle for drum corps would be a 1903 model Springfield in 30-06 or maybe a M14 Garand.

Jackass
Why is , no matter where you work there is always at least one asshole who thinks his/her s**t doesn't stink?
Idiot drivers
Made it to work this morning. Took about 50% longer due to the blizzard. Of course a few idiots had to learn the hard way, like the moron on his roof on the opposite side of the freeway or the guy on my side up into a wall facing the wrong way. No wonder insurance is so frikkin expensive.
Going home tonight is going to be a real treat.

Pet Peeve
I hate the expressions "That's the way we do it here". & "But we've always done it this way." or any other such excuse. Why are people so resistant to accepting new ideas and suggestions? Technology has advanced, deal with it. Some one may acyually have a better way of doing something than you, be it an old fart like me or even "some young whippersnapper".

Bond
Anybody else think the new Bond sucks?
I liked the original Casino Royale, thought it quite humorous and the theme music rocked. Just ask Royal Airs of 67.

What's wrong with modern drum corps
I am a child of the Fifties and I am proud of it. It was a great time to be a child. Sure we had the spector of nuclear anilation hanging over our heads but we could play free and be kids without the fear of molesters, drug dealers, gang bangers, drive by shootings, abductions, etc, etc, etc.
Drum corps when I was young was strictly controled by sponsoring bodies such as VFW and American Legion. It was devided into junior (under 21) and senior (over 21). Drum corps shows centered on the flag presentation.
Now days you have NO flag presentation, NO concert, NO military bearing, NO marching and manuvering, just glorified dance troups and band boys.
Americans today are pampered, soft, lazy whiners who feel they are entitled to everything NOW and NOONE can tell them anything or require any type of quid pro quo. They do not see the symbolism or respect for flag and country that REAL drum corps used to show.
Will it take another World War and the real possibility of Americans losing there freedoms to awaken these people?
