Shit or get off the pot.

Ok guys and gals, you got your collective asses handed to you in Rochester. Even usually politically correct posters on DCP are talking openly about your flaws. Before another lackluster season is contemplated you better sit down and make some hard choices. Do you want to be an Alumni corp fostering a Junior? (Your first mission statement) or would you like to be a bunch of midlife crisis weekend warriors,( do nothing), or would you like to be competitive? If so, dump everyone who cannot or will not commit to serious rehearsal and physical conditioning, drop down to class A if needed. Believe me, the spectators would rather see and hear 15 good horns than 30 half asses ones. Same goes for percussion and guard. Perhaps nowhere else than guard, physical attributes are most important. Who wants to see 250 pounders attemping to prance around in leotards. Talk about an appetite killer.

I will raise my hand high here. I shouldn't be marching. I have a bad knee and a sciatica issue. I will be 50 in November. I am not in any qualified to be a pit percussionist (I don't delude myself like BozoBob) and I would rather sit it out than be in an honor guard. Nothing wrong with the honor guard but it's not anything I'd be interested in participating.

This is a young person's sport. If they want to be successful, back up the truck, get rid of the old, talentless and for the most part, impaired people and get on with it with some young ones.

Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.

If I had the inkling to march again ,it would be with MBI. But since I don't, I won't. It is for the younger crowd.
The Bozos, though, can't see it that way. It would not surprise me if a couple of the marchers pulled a Lothar next year.

Mike, the 250 lb guard members- like watching the dancing elephants from "Dumbo".
