Well the "great white death" didn't materialize as the weather geeks predicted for almost a week. I swear those guys get orgasmic with the possibility of a storm. I saw predictions for as much as 20 inches of snow in Wisconsin. I had maybe 2 or three. Sure it was wet and heavy but hardly the storm of the century.
So as Nelson says on the Simpsons; Ha Ha.

throwing down the gauntlet
OK, let's look at this.
We have a new "all age'" drum corp forming in Chicago, the "Men of Brass"
They are holding a camp at Wisconsin State Fair Park (Milwaukee)
They are doing a jazz show in the style of the late great Col. Truman Crawford.
Their arrainger is non other than former Kiltie great Ken Norman.
I wonder which existing corp is going to suffer the most from this?

In humor there is truth
Taken from DCP
QUOTE(Maedhros @ Feb 22 2007, 08:04 PM)
You speak for your majority, I'll speak for mine. I had a really good reply typed up for this one.. but I figured I would get banned for life from DCP and have to go the trouble of setting up another ID with and different email address, etc. etc.
How true you are Maedhros ,even though I believe you are addressing this comment as sarcasm toward Terri, Annie and myself.
DCP is and will die because anyone with a brain and a differing opinion is excluded. You do know what happens with inbreeding don't you?

April 15 ?
What does April 15 th mean to you? I would bet if that question was asked of adult Americans the answer would be "It's tax day." WRONG!
Shortly after 7:00AM on the morning of April 15, 1865 Abraham Lincoln died. He was shot the previous evening and lingered through the night unconscious but alive. How many people know that? Everybody seems to remember Nov 22, 1963 when Kennedy was killed. The media brings it up every year. In the grand scheme, Kennedy was nowhere near the President that Lincoln was. Why does Lincoln's death have to be overshaddowed by the IRS? Whould it be that hard to move the tax deadline to April 30th ?
Come on congress, get off your asses and do it.

No sense of history
This week another piece of history bites the dust. The University of Illinois has scrapped their long time mascot because of lefty whinning. The Chief portrayed a Native American in a respectful way. The very same dancing that brought the wrath of the liberals is praised as "wonderful culture" if performed by Indian dance troups.
The same thing has happened before. Marquette University caved in years ago.
If your mascot is called an "Injun" or a "Redskin" or a "Squaw", you need to change it but there in nothing dishonorable about being called a "Warrior"

What's good for the goose.......
It's no secret that myself and others have been banned from DCP for so-called "rules infractions". Well it seems some are not bound by rules. DCP says you are not supposed to constantly use the "quote" feature when responding to posts as it clutters the board. It is a good rule but one the certain people constantly violate when annoucning their various kamps, menus and booze parties.
Why are they not censured?

Pioneer ?
Saw on DCP that Pioneer is having recruiting problems. That is too bad but maybe they should not set their sight so high. Pioneer is a Div 2 caliber corp, always has been, always will. This goes way back to the days when they were two seperate corps. St Pat's Imperials and Mercury Thunderbolts, in to the merger years as The Thing and to the present Pioneer. They just never had the public personna of a top level corps. Impressions are everything.
On the issues of drum corps, I am waiting to see.
Troopers
Madison
Phantom
Could give a shit about
Cadets
Kilties
most of DCA

Banishment, Day one
Day one of my banishment from DCP. Still no explaination. Other than that my day is unchanged. I am working, earning money, planning my evenings activities (TKD and bathroom remodeling). Sorry, you little nazis, you have not ruined my life.

Big F**king Hairy Deal
I have joined the ellite ranks of those banned by DCP. Pardon me for a moment while I wipe away the tears.
The gutless bastards didn't have the balls to send me an e-mail. Well I shall not be silenced. My commentary shall continue here.
Jim, Terri, Annie and I may not agree 100% on what we like and dislike about drum corps but we are 100% united in our stand that you mini dictators cannot tell us what is right.
Mike

Food for thought?
No bozo menu published for this kamp?
How's this for a suggestion?
Cook up some of those carp and salmon they catch in the river by your motel.

Scum and more scum
We in cheddar land have a trial starting monday. Not only do I believe the shit faced bastard is guilty of killling that girl and should be tied between four trucks and torn apart. I think he also was guilty of that rape charge some years ago that was overturned because of some panty wasted Madison college geeks.
On a more local note, two low life trash were just arrested for cruelty to animals. It seems they went off on a vacation and locked their dog in a van in the backyard. Problem was, the animal had no food or water and the temperature was subzero at the time. The poor dog had to be put down. This is one of theose times that I feel the punishment should fit the crime. In other words, lock the bastards, naked in an unheated van with nothing to eat or drink for a week. See how they like it. Oh and do it in International Falls, Minn. Should be cold enough there.

chicken or egg?
With Anna Nicole Smith's death added to the long list of show bix types that have self destructed at a relatively young age one has to ask. Does the life style of Hollywood contribute to these peoples self destruction or is it a character flaw in these people that makes them gravitate toward Hollywood?
My own opinion is the people have a character flaw to begin with but under normal circumstances it could be controlled. Hollywood, however, feeds and nourishes the flaws making them grow and multiply until they take over a persons life and eventually kill them.

Don't wait for my respect, Liz
On DCP the question was, Would you march a 60's style show if you were given the opportunity. One know it all broad from out east posted this.
"as someone who knows her drum corps history and is about to be 40 ~ i am completely uninterested in marching that type of show. even the Bridgemen alumni corps is more modern than that thankfully. --------------------"
Liz Duguay
Well Liz, kiss my nearing sixty year old ass. You are one of those "know it all" types who wouldn't know what the roots of drum corp were if it bit your flabby butt.
Your statement shows tremendous disrespect for everyone involved in the activity; from the returning WW1 vets who began drum corps thru present day members who have an open mind. Maybe the reason you would not want to march an "old school" show is you do not have the mental and physical disipline to perform in the "tick era"

Real Music
This afternoon I attended a MSO concert of Gershwin music. It brought home the point that there are a lot of people out there who think they are much better than they really are. When you listen to a man like Kevin Cole play the piano solos to Rhapsody in Blue you see first hand the difference between professional musicians and the "weekend warrior" types. When the MSO broke into "Strike up the Band" I immediatly reminised on how well the old junior Kilties played that piece. I shook my head thinking of how lame the "all age" version was.
Nuff said.

Kevin Who? Who cares?
Does anyone really give a shit what Kevin Federline thinks? What jackass add man decided to put him in a commercial? His only claim to fame is porking Brittany Spears.
As for me, I'm goint to a Gershwin concert on Sunday afternoon. I may get back in time for the second half of the Superbowl to see the Bears pound Payton Manning (can't stand him either) into the turf.
